Classy Youtube client
Of all the youtube client apps that i have ever tried on the desktop, this one truly qualifies to be called a native Mac app for youtube. Its a really good, well crafted app with nifty features incorporated in it. I would have given it a 4and ½ rating had it not been for a few shortcomings that the application has in its current form.
Some of them, I’ll mention below:-
1.) Lack of a separate 'About’ Window. This is the most “unMac” thing for an app on the platform.
2.) Lack of a separate ‘Preferences menu’ and a corresponding Window. This again is a very “unMac” thing to have for the app.
3.) Inability to download youtube videos. Pls have us have the feature to view videos offline. Make it so that the user just has to drag a video onto the desktop or anywhere in the finder, in order to start the download. You could have the app prompt the user for confirmation of this action by giving the app a bounce effect in the dock, once he is done dragging the content onto the desired location.
There are certain other things that, if addressed, could make this app one of top 3 or 2 apps for Youtube, atleast on the mac.
1.) Having a separate floater window for features like “refine search”. Once the user is done with flipping the switches or making appropriate configurations, he can close the companion window.
2.) Showing “Max time” on the playback bar.
3.) Introduce a collapsible in-App drawer to show all the user comments about the related video in a well formatted way.
4.) Add a share icon beside the search bar.
I have some other ideas too, but i dont think i should post them all here. But, please atleast consider the above feature requests. I love the app.
