User-guided music generation system, coded by a contemporary classical composer: a fast track both to instant new music, as well as education in music-writing techniques.

New Song can create new music soundscapes, either to listen to within the app or to export for use elsewhere, by means of several user friendly tools that make the process fairly easy.

Upon opening, you will find four boxes, when one or more is selected a series of symbols representing preset music generators appears (divided into seven colours representing generator types), when a symbol is pressed, unique music starts playing (with the exception of the Red and Yellow generators, reserved for inputting user audio and MIDI keyboard performance). When subscribed you can edit these preset symbols, after holding down on one for a moment - you are given the option to insert a user prompt, enter a seed number, to change the generator type, and choose candidate/s of the symbol to replace this one after it's music is deleted as required by the user. These are internally managed by the system, and define the sort of music to be expected, which is made using a combination of randomisation processes, your input, and chosen musical forms. By combining up to four such varying soundscapes, endless results can be obtained.

If you hear something you enjoy, you can easily open what is playing and see the contents (and edit it, if need be, to the extent the generator in use allows), and finally by pressing the microphone button, the exportable recording of the audio begins, at which point all changes made to the sounds made in real time are recorded, then by pressing it again, recording stops and you can export the audio file for use elsewhere.

Seven soundscape sources are included now, or generators types, each with its own set of contrasting tools, are available to have some fun with. More varying sources are to be added in future. The active generators (sometimes referred to as coloured 'Pearls') appear, and are each editable, in real time on a circular graph - where the distance from the centre represents volume, and the horizontal position represents panning.

Some of the tools within some of the generator types, even can be made to react to one another.

Master reverb and tuning are also editable in real time, including during processing the recording for export.

Many included sounds, and custom sounds can be added by placing up to three (preferably slightly varying) .m4a files in a folder, naming the folder with the desired instrument name, then just place those folders in the app's folder (using Files app).

Audio can be easily saved for use in other contexts in .m4a format.

No instruction manual included, it would be too long and tedious for most, I assume. Instead I hope that your intuition & intelligence will guide you well in using this. However, some little documentation / labels are being sometimes added, where it seemed important.

There are several other features not mentioned here, but it would be too much to list them all here, as I'm constantly aiming for a manageable and well-balanced simplicity.

Finally, there's no guarantee that the sound/s obtained will be suitable for the user's needs, as the randomisation processes / algorithms are still being refined, but I hope you'll enjoy it in the meantime anyway.
