- Fixed crashes when opening daily notes and loading events or references

- Fixed creating a synced line by dragging (it added an empty synced line)

Full Release:

This NotePlan update is all about auto templates, making it easier to organize your periodic notes! With auto templates, you can set a standard set of tasks, notes, and checklists for specific note types. Once configured, these templates are automatically loaded when you open the corresponding note—no need for extra clicks or taps!

Customize it further: insert a different task list for weekdays and weekends, for example. Let’s break it down:

AUTO TEMPLATES

There are two ways to set up auto templates.

1. Open an existing template or create a new one under "Templates" in "Smart Folders."
2. In the template, click on the calendar icon in the top right to set your auto-insert options (note: the icon only turns blue if an active rule is in place).
3. You can configure templates to be inserted based on specific frequencies, such as daily, or on certain days of the year—like January 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Alternatively, you can also set up auto templates directly while working in calendar notes.

SETUP AUTO TEMPLATES FROM CALENDAR NOTES

First, ensure “Show help text (and template button)” is on in Settings → Markdown.

1. Open an empty calendar note (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.).
2. Click on “Insert Template”, then hover over "Auto-Insert" and choose a template.

To remove the template click again on it in the menu (it toggles it on/off). Or go into the template and open the recurrence settings by tapping on the calendar button top right.

OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

- Paste plain text with Cmd+Shift+V
- “Move” renamed to “Schedule”
- Fixed repeat crash (minimum now set to 2)
- Improved formatting when pasting
- New filter option: 'past including today'
- Fixed link alias issues
- Improved cursor positioning after auto-inserted brackets, you can hit enter to jump behind the closing bracket.
- Added shortcuts for opening notes in new window or split view
- Fixed link-tapping crash on iPad
- Resolved layout issues with empty event titles
- Fixed importing of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly notes from Obsidian
- Improved importing of file attachments from Obsidian
- Changed 'Preferences' to 'Settings'
- Fixed dragged in events created timeblocks and renamed the event in the note
- Fixed dragged in tasks with sub-tasks for creating synced lines from the references didn't make the subtasks synced lines

Very useful and practical

I have an obsession with to-do apps and note taking apps. I have tried Omnifocus, Todoist, Ticktick, Obsidian, Apple notes, Craft, Evernote,Upnotes, Sorted^3 etc etc. Ultimately I had settled with Sorted^3 with Apple notes. But then I had to juggle between 2 apps. Have been trying Noteplan since past 1 week and liked it for
1. There is iOS app which is good. iphone and iPad are the devices I have with me most of the time , not Mac
2. Notes are stored locally - We can use icloud to sync. Very fast and trouble free as of now for me. Works offline
3. Linking and back linking notes. I have just started noticing the convenience of this feature. I need a PDF file at only once place.
4. Day notes serves well as journal.

There are more worth mentioning but as of now this app is what i have been looking for all this time.

1. We should be able to create a task in day notes using Siri
2. Rearrange the tasks or dragging a task to a date in ios is not very easy. - there should be a way

On iPad you can hit CMD+Return to "turn off" the editing temporarily so you can drag items. Also there's a shortcut: Control + CMD + up/down (I think on iPad). On iPhone it's similar, but you need to swipe away the keyboard first or select various lines of text. If you got some idea how we can improve it, write us!

Simple but powerful

Very simply designed app unlike most out there, but extremely powerful to plan your day, take notes, and link your calendar and reminders together.

The app i have been looking for

Noteplan is THE app for task management. Every other TODO app wants you to do things their way. Noteplan is the only app which lets users have enough freedom to do the things their way without compromising on core functionality. Kudos to devs.
