Description

Capture timelapses of your 3D prints using just your phone.

How It Works:
PrintLapse cleverly utilizes your mobile device's microphone to detect specific beep sounds emitted by your 3D printer. Each beep, signaling a layer change, prompts the app to capture a snapshot.

Ease of Use:
1. Download PrintLapse and tailor your 3D printer's slicer software to emit a beep at each layer change.
2. Open PrintLapse and let it learn the beep sound.
3. Hit "START CAPTURE" and watch as the app seamlessly records each stage of your print.

Features & Benefits:
- Smart rotation for hassle-free viewing in any orientation.
- Background noise differentiation to ensure the app focuses solely on your printer's beeps.
- Storage of images on your device for easy access and compilation.

Great tool to start with

I recently had the opportunity to try out Print Lapse, and I must say, it’s a commendable tool for 3D printing enthusiasts looking to create captivating time-lapse videos of their prints.

One of the standout features of Print Lapse is its user-friendly interface, which simplifies the often complex process of capturing time-lapse videos. The app guides users through the process of capturing a beep sound from their 3D printer and integrating a provided G-code snippet into their slicer’s layer change G-code section.

Positives:

• The app’s simplicity makes it accessible to users of all experience levels.
• It provides clear instructions and a straightforward interface.

Challenges Faced:

• I found that the provided G-code snippet required some editing to work correctly with my Ender3 V3SE.
• The initial beep is longer than subsequent beeps, affecting the timing in the video.
• The placement of the pause G-code needed adjustment for my printer model.
• There’s a slight lag between the beep and the actual pause and travel times, impacting the timing of image captures.

While there were some initial challenges, I believe that Print Lapse is a valuable tool for 3D printing enthusiasts. With a bit of fine-tuning and experimentation, users can create impressive time-lapse videos of their prints.

I highly recommend Print Lapse to anyone looking to enhance their 3D printing experience with engaging time-lapse videos. Despite the initial adjustments required, the results are well worth the effort.
