Teach Your Monster to Read

Learn to Read & Phonics Games

How do you get a child hooked on books? Teach them to read using a game in which the very first act is to make their own monster, of course.

That’s just one of the many ways in which the BAFTA-nominated Teach Your Monster to Read is no normal phonics app.

It’s never too early to get your child into reading.

Once you’ve created your monster mascot, the games can begin. There are three levels: beginner, for children who are learning their first letters and sounds; intermediate, for those confident with letter-sound combinations and starting to read sentences; and advanced, for older children who have mastered basic letter-sound combinations and who can manage short sentences.

The level dictates the games you play. For example, at beginner level, your monster crash-lands on a planet and doesn’t know how to read his repair book. But don’t worry, the Island King wants to strike a bargain: if you help him find his lost letters, he’ll help you fix your spaceship.

Your little monster will love this bright, fun phonics app.

Collect all the letters – through matching games and recognition exercises – and then you proceed to the next level.

At level two you must recapture your spaceship from pirates, which involves more complicated matching and seeking games plus more advanced sounds and basic words.

At level three, you must help the imperilled animals on another planet – reading the instructions that pop up on the screen. Along the way you’ll meet magical characters such as the Island King and Jessica, the magic wise woman, as well as the Goblin Prince.

Reading? Mission accomplished.
