monace the queen ,

I think this should be called Logic Limited Version

I was quite happy and excited to get the new garageband but when I was trying to use it I had several difficulties trying to make something simple.

- I don’t feel like I am using garageband anymore, this is a Logic Pro limited version, all the little features you had on Garageband that made it easy to use are gone.
- Garageband was made to be simple, the instrument library has a lot of paths. Example: I installed an instrument pack with quite a few different instruments and to get to them instead of going Library > Bass you have to go Library > Legacy > Garageband > Bass, this applies for Logic as well. I don’t see the point.
- Drummer which I think was the nicest addition to garageband is extremely limited. Writing a 4/4 beat all the time is kind of boring, sometimes you want the verse to be 1/4 beat long and since you can’t convert the loop to a midi or audio to have full control of placement you are stuck with an addictional fill that comes from nowhere because the loop was programmed to start at a specific place.
- There was a extra quality check on loops which is nice but midi loops were cut loose, which is a bummer.
- Sharing mp3 or 320Kbs option GONE. For those who want to hear the last track you created on a non iPhone phone have to go a long way to do that.
- Splitting an Arrangement bar no longer possible.
- Bye bye Podcast template.
- Inspector or Track Inspector is dearly missed on the Library Palette.
- Audio Unit hard and long way to find. Ok so you create a new empty project, with audio/microphone selected, you want to add some AU FX that you just installed, you have to select Smart Controls > select Inspector raise the Smart Controls palette up so that you get the Audio Unit option to come up. Seriously?!
- No more Reverb and Echo AU, to have full control of these effects you have to add your own.
- Last but not least if this new garageband is to stay, it needs a propper version name to differ from the others.

I am no longer looking forward for any Garageband updates, the only way to properly use this application is to stay with the old version and buy Logic X for the features (because in Logic you have way more control of everything).
