Descrizione

The Biodiversity of the Central Coast website is now available offline and on-the-go! Ideal for field use, this app provides identification assistance for over 210 plants, 80 birds, 190 marine invertebrates, 50 fish, 20 mammals and reptiles, 120 seaweeds, and more.

The Biodiversity of the Central Coast is an on-going project dedicated to showcasing the incredible biodiversity of British Columbia's Central Coast region, located in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest. It is a program of the Hakai Institute and the Starzomski Lab in the School of Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria. The goal of the project is to provide useful and interesting information on as many species as possible, in an interactive format that is relevant and accessible to students, researchers, and the general public.

This free field guide contains over 700 species of marine, terrestrial, and aquatic plants and animals, as well as some background information about the area. It also includes further resources for identification, and links to research, publications, articles, media, and other sites related to the Central Coast. Be sure to visit the Gallery page to see some great photos of the area's landscape and species!
