Great
I love the idea of the word of the day, but I wish the app layout was more interactive and more visually pleasing. Anyway it's really amazing to have the word of the day directly on your phone and you can play some quizzes or games when you are bored
Improved ads
I am a pretty longtime user of m-w app, and always kept it in the free mode (I’m considering a subscription though).
It’s a very reliable source of knowledge about English language, while providing some nice word games, which substantially make learning more fun as well.
In the past, the popping-up of some commercial ads used to be somewhat annoying, as they partially prevented or hampered the consultation of the entry you were looking for.
Today, that shortcoming is not showing up anymore, as the ad is simply sorta “window” that you can predictably turn off, by tapping a convenient “cross mark” in some corner, pretty much as you would foresee.
Thus, I think the add is deserving the fifth star, which I seldom give to any reviewed app (implying that it is always possible to make it better, that’s sorta truism, I know).
Culture and wellbeing
Thank you mw for this so useful app. I use it mostly to learn english instead of looking up for translations. The origin paragraph is great to fix and remember significance and the audio pronounciation is mandatory for a non-mother language as am i. Thank you
