Description
Race for the Galaxy is a strategy boardgame where players advance their empire by playing cards to build technological developments or to settle planets. Its core mechanic is a phase choosing game. Players secretly and simultaneously determine which one of seven phases they will lock in, all reveal at once, then execute the phases in order. Will you build an engine to ramp up VP generation on cheapo production planets? Will you invest in exploration and settle rare and valuable VP rich planets? Or will you rush a military conquest to cut off your opponents before they have a chance to develop their strategy?

Top Boardgame
Il gioco da tavolo è di quelli davvero buoni, da avere. Rigiocabilità infinita e diversi percorsi per la vittoria, meccaniche di engine / plateau building carte con selezione azioni simultanea, ottima scalabilità da 2 a 4 giocatori.
Per quanto riguarda il porting: il costo è alto, considerando che ognuna delle 3 espansioni viene venduta separatamente. Il base va già bene, ma con le espansioni si dà un pelo di bilanciamento ad alcune strategie e si introduce variabilità ed alcune regole aggiuntive (goals, takeovers). Senz’altro consiglio di introdurre “gathering storm”.
Il porting è buono, almeno per iPad, e l’app si fa giocare. La difficoltà sembra ok, per giocatori con esperienza il livello medio di AI risulta un po’ facile ma comunque divertente, deduco che hard sia una buona sfida ma ancora da provare.

Some minor issues playing with iPad:
- management of good discards seems fiddly
- having to press ok after finishing discards should be disabled in option
- it is not possible playing vs IA to wait and see what they are putting down in the tableau before you the few times the placement order does matter
- the visibility of the goals taken by opponents when playing with GS exp has to be improved. 5 pts goals shall remain visible in the reduced window all the time, since they can be taken back
- multiplayer ranking to be introduced
- final tableau saved for later review would be nice
- cross platform capabilities to be added
