iMac screen is too bright for sensitive eyes. Shades is the solution. Shades is the utility for controlling the brightness of your iMac screen. When you use the iMac at night, you might find it is too bright for your eyes even though you have turned the screen to the darkest setting. This app comes to help. It makes really easy for you to change the screen to the darkest mode. It will make the screen much more comfortable to use. The app does not support the shades if other apps run in fullscreen mode.

Pretty good and worth the price

It does pretty good what is supposed to do for a very low price. It draws a shaded layer over the whole screen, which opacity is precisely trimmable. Unfortunately the mouse pointer is above this layer (so at full brightess, it could be tiring for the sight), and moreover the layer disappears when you call expose or spaces, so in those situation the screen brightness goes back to the pre-shades value. However, if you're reading a pdf or writing a document it's rare to call expose or spaces, so it's definitively useful.
