Spaceward Ho! is a strategic game of awesome scope. You control the entire military and economy of a spacefaring race. Your goal: explore and colonize the galaxy.
Unfortunately, you are not alone. Alien enemies bent on galactic conquest will oppose your expansion. You fight them by developing new technologies and expanding your empire, or you can ally with them to turn enemies into friends.
Terraform newly discovered worlds or mine their natural resources. Maneuver your starship fleets, both in defense of your own systems and in offensive strikes against the evil aliens. Your strategic decisions will determine the fate of the galaxy.
Based on the original Mac/PC/Palm game and updated for iOS.

Unique shortcoming: no multiplayer mode
This app is a very good porting of a classic Mac game I’ve been in love with since its release by Delta Tao. My only regret, the absence of multiplayer mode, a very nice feature of the Mac version.

A game that stands the test of time
I first played this game over 20 years ago, in black and white, on an old Apple IIc. It was great then and it's still great now. While I enjoy console games with real-life physics engines as much as the next person, there is always a place for games like this, which are simple and elegant. In a few minutes you know everything you need to know to play, but you will never get tired of it. It is essentially a strategy game of controlling resources (money, metal) and warfare (conquer the galaxy). There is no one winning strategy; you have to adapt your strategy according to the situation. The distance between stars, their make-up (gravity, temperature) and the distribution of resources changes randomly at start-up so no two games are the same. The game mechanics are very simple so the focus is all on the strategy.
