このアプリでは、普段の生活では見ることのできない食品の環境、社会、健康への負荷・影響を「見える化」することを目的としています。商品を選ぶときの参考にしていただくと共に、今後より多くの情報を反映するためのアンケートにご協力いただけましたら幸いです。

バーコードを読み取ると、その商品が環境、社会、健康に与える影響を5段階評価で確認でき、その商品に関するアンケートが表示されます。
各評価は、商品名ではなく企業名ベースで計算されています。一方で、原材料、原産地、栄養成分表示、アレルギー情報といった個別の商品情報は反映できていません。というのは、これらの商品情報は商品のパッケージには記載されていますが、データベースとしては公開されていないからです。
そこで、商品ごとにパッケージに記載されている情報についてアンケートを行っています。アンケートにご回答いただくと、回答を各評価に反映すると共に、これまでに収集した回答分布が表示され、他のユーザーがどのような回答をしているのかを見ることができます。
評価の計算方法の詳細は、アプリ内「このアプリについて」ページをご確認ください。
また、各商品の詳細情報をリクエストする機能を通じてリクエスト数を集計しています。パッケージより詳しい情報が必要だと感じる場合は、商品ページ下部にあるリクエストボタン(建物に「？」のイラスト)をタップして、あなたのリクエストを追加してください。これまでにユーザーから受け付けたリクエスト数が商品ページ下部に表示されています。
各商品カテゴリーにおける総合スコアが高い商品には、商品名の横に↑10%のラベルが表示されています。また、ホーム＞商品一覧＞商品カテゴリー一覧①/②/③＞各カテゴリーの商品一覧＞1～300からも確認可能です。データの表示順序は、設定ページからカスタマイズ可能です。例えば、環境のスコアが高い商品を上位表示する場合は、設定ページで環境の重要度を「重要」もしくは「非常に重要」に設定してください。
なお、商品情報は2019年12月時点のJANコード統合商品情報データベースの情報を利用しています。そのため、新商品がなかったり、商品情報が少し古い可能性があります。また、店舗独自のバーコードで管理されている、生鮮食品・お惣菜については、生鮮食品・お惣菜のデータベースから検索をかけてください。
The Eco-ka-na app allows users to see the environmental, social, and health impacts of food products. Please use the impact scores to decide what to buy and also fill in the surveys to enable us to increase the coverage of food information on products. When you scan the barcode of a food product, you will find the environmental, social, and health impacts on a five-point scale (the higher the better) and a survey on the information found on the product. Each score is calculated on a company basis, not a product basis.
This app, however, does not take into account the product information such as raw materials, place of origin, nutrition and allergy information since it is not readily available (but you may find such information on the product package!). This is the reason why the app has a survey function, to allow users to submit additional information off of the product package, reflect the data in each score, and display the collected responses.

In addition, the app collects requests aimed at food companies to provide more information on their products. If you would like to request for more detailed information on a particular product in addition to that provided on the package, please click the “Request missing information for this product” button (illustration of a building with a question mark) on the bottom of each product information page. The number of requests submitted by other users is displayed at the bottom of the product page.
You can check the products with high overall scores (top 10%) via ↑10% label, and also top 300 from Home>About Databases>List of Product Categories ①/②/③>List of Products> 1-300. You can set your own priority for impact scores by customizing the display order on the “Settings” page. For example, if you are interested primarily in the environmental impacts of food products, please set the importance of environment to “Important” or “Very Important” on the settings page.
This app uses the product information provided in “JAN Item Code File Service/Integrated Flexible Database” as of December 2019". Newer products may not be listed, and some products may have not been updated. Certain products’s bar codes may be managed by the individual shop or supermarket. You can try the “Perishable Foods, Deli” database to find the product.
