Collection of Health data such as calories burned and heart rate requires an Apple Watch or other Apple Health connected device.
Arc is only awake and using GPS when you are active and moving. For the rest of the day Arc stays in a low power sleep mode, with GPS turned off, to conserve battery.
On a typical day of two to three hours of travel a single full battery charge should last from morning to evening without requiring extra recharging during the day. However longer trips (for example a long hike or cross country drive) may consume more than expected battery, due to Arc needing to be awake and recording, with GPS activated, for the duration of the trip.
For longer trips, I recommend plugging your phone into a car charger or battery pack, to avoid unpleasant battery surprises.

Hopefully fixed the crash during launch that is affecting a small number of people.
Arc now monitors the thermal state of your phone (ie how hot it is), and dynamically adjusts its processing and recording to suit the thermal conditions.
A note on data gaps and "Arc has been stopped" notifications:
If you are experiencing frequent notifications that Arc has been stopped by iOS, or frequent data gaps, and you own a newer model phone (iPhone 8, X, or newer), please contact Apple support, quoting bug number 45805073.
Apple have yet to acknowledge the iOS 12 bug that is causing increased instability and unreliability for background apps on newer model phones. Perhaps it's time they heard from more of us!
It’s mostly a great app, but
I currently cannot afford the subscription cost (willing to pay if a bit cheaper) and would appreciate a way to export all of my data at once, if it means I need to stop using the app for free. Also, there are A LOT of gaps in my data, no matter how much I try to change the settings accordingly. Might not be a great choice for iPhone SE.
Hi! Thanks for your review 😄
For the price of the subscription, unfortunately I can't make it any cheaper. It is already as cheap as possible, given the costs of building and maintaining the app and service 😞
For data export, I recommend installing the new Arc 3.0 public beta, which has the ability to export entire years, instead of only exporting individual months.
The Arc 3.0 public beta can be found here:
For data gaps, please contact me directly by email, from the Feedback & Support button in the app! You should not be experiencing data gaps! The email sent from within the app will include debug information that can help us find the cause of what's going wrong on your phone.
The iPhone SE is my favourite iPhone by the way 😄 It's a cute little phone, and quite powerful! Arc should have no problems at all on the iPhone SE. (I do daily testing on an iPhone SE, and also iPhone 5s, 6s, and many more).
Moves が終了してしまって、代替で使っていた Fabric も終了することにになり、代わりのアプリとして使ってみた。
位置情報が間違っているセグメントは、いったん Stationary に変更してやれば削除できるが、そうすると履歴ごとなくなる。
Frequently stopped, any way to fix?
Thanks for the app, I like the potential benefit of the application.
But unfortunately I have seen “data gap for xx hours” “no longer recording” on the app every several days. This happens on my wife’s iPhone too.
According to the application’s explanation, “It stops due to iPhone”. However I’ve run similar applications “Moves light” and had run “Moves” in past. They rarely stopped, almost nothing. Did you investigate why the application shows the error message “arc stop and no longer record”( sorry statement my be different)? I don’t think the reason is only because of my iPhone.
Or should I pay for the project to avoid the message?
I wish to run the application w/o manually restarting the applications every several day.
Hi! Please email me from "Feedback & Support" inside the app, so we can get your problem fixed.
Arc should never have data gaps, so something is going wrong on your phones. It will require several messages back and forth to find the cause, so email is best. And the feedback email you send me from inside the app will also include some debug information which will make it easier for me to determine what's going wrong.
Paying for Arc will not stop the data gaps. So there is no need to pay to fix the problem 😄 The problem will almost certainly be something about your phone's settings.
Looking forward to your email, so we can find the problem and get it fixed for you! Thanks 😄
