Description

Ready to count many types of traffic? CounterPoint makes it easy to count bikes, count pedestrians, count cars, count people in wheelchairs...and more!

CounterPoint's users are helping to plan a better future for everyone, just by counting traffic. It relies on crowdsourcing and, like Wikipedia, is an amazingly reliable and easy way to gather important data.

Here's how:

Find a good spot in the middle of a block - a cafe, a bus stop, a street soon to get bike lanes, your favourite patio - then set up a counterpoint, look across the street and start counting.

It's that easy.

Tell your friends. More counts means better data. Rely on the crowd to slowly gather data quickly, or promote your counterpoint to your friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Do it yourself the old-fashioned way (well, except without the pencil, clipboard and hours and hours in Excel) or start a team and enlist staff members or friends you trust.

All of the data is yours to download, analyse and share. You get instant graphs every count. Come back to the same spot next year to compare!

You might find that counting traffic gets addictive. In-app achievements make counting game-like, addictive and fun!

Developed by Canadian non-profit Green Action Centre, CounterPoint aims to make traffic counting easier and comparable everywhere. Each count you do adds to what we know about all kinds of traffic (not just cars). The important data generated by counterpoint users will help plan better bike lanes, monitor safer school zones, make stronger cases for new crosswalks and more!

CounterPoint is for engineers, planning firms, school principals, students, politicians, and people like you! Better information means better decisions. CounterPoint lets you create an immediate transportation "baseline", anywhere, anytime...that lasts forever.

Start counting today!
