無課金に優しく、ドラフトが面白い

・製作陣は別のデジタルカードゲームThe elder scrolls legends もデザインしているDire wolf digital。MTGのプロが所属しているだけあってゲームのシステムは基本的にはほぼMTGそのままという感じであるが、それに加えデジタルでしか実現できないような効果も取り入れるなど工夫が見られて面白い。
・この領域で圧倒的な人気を誇るハースストーンに対抗するためか、無課金の人にも寛大であることを売りにしている。1日1勝目に1パックを貰え、さらにデイリークエストで大体1パックの半分くらいのゲーム内通貨が獲得できる。1日1パック以上というと聞こえはいいが、レアリティに関係なく一つのカードにつき4枚まで入れることができ、カード解体、作成のレートは他のデジタルカードゲームとあまり変わらないため、結局無課金でトップレベルのデッキを複数作れるようになるためにはある程度の日数がかかる。
・対人戦だけでなく、比較的易しいAIを倒すだけでもゲーム内通貨を稼ぐことができる。ただしこれは最近大幅に報酬が見直され、お得感はだいぶ減ってしまった。

・MTGのリミテッドフォーマットが好きな人はこのゲームのドラフトも気にいるだろう。一つのデッキで3敗か7勝すると退場というルールだが、ドラフトしたカードを全て持ち帰れるために、一回も勝てなくても普通にパックを買うより得をしているという美味しいシステムになっている。ただ今の所登場している全ての拡張セット(現時点で3種)からドラフトをする仕組みになっているために、シナジーを考えてデッキを組むのが難しいという批判も見られる。

・ゲームプレイ自体はハースストーンよりランダム要素を抑えているため、より戦略性を楽しみたい人に向いていると言えるだろう。その分ドローというランダム要素に勝負が委ねられることは多く、マナ事故によってなすすべなく負けてしまうことも珍しくはない。ただこれは拡張セットが増えるごとにマナを調整するカードも登場しているようなので、今後改善されていくと考えられる。

総合的に見て、MTGのようなカードゲームをちゃんとしたデジタルのUIで楽しみたい人、もっと気軽にドラフトをプレイしたい人には間違いなくオススメできる。ただPRをあまり積極的にはしていないこと、そしてMTG Arenaが近い将来に正式にリリースされた際、一気にプレイヤー人口が減ってしまうこともあり得なくはないため、将来性という観点では少し心配はある。

本家しっかりして

本家のアプリ版MTGもこのくらいテンポよく進行する作りだったらいいのに、と思ってしまうデキの良さ。
相手ターンに何かできるというのはやはり大きい。

カードデザインはイラスト含めてまだ洗練されていない印象だが、これはこれで味があるかも。
