Needs major updates

Does not support split screen on iPad, disconnects from servers if I switch to other applications for more than a few seconds, doesn’t have auto join of channels.

Developer Response ,

Palaver can auto-join channels on connect, if you've inadvertantly turned this feature off you can re-enable it in Palaver settings under the option "Auto-join channels".

Since iOS 9, Palaver has included support for Split Views, please reach out to us on support@palaverapp.com with more details about your setup. We would be happy to help figure out what's going on.

As for being disconnected in the background, this is unfortunately a limitation in iOS which disallows applications to keep TCP connections active for longer than 30 seconds. There are some modern IRC networks which allow you to stay connected in the background such as ergo.chat (read more at https://palaverapp.com/blog/ergo-chat). Alternatively, bouncers can be used to stay connected in the background by keeping your connection alive on another server (ZNC is a bouncer we would recommend).

Taking their time

I use this every day. One of the better iOS IRC clients there is, particularly because of ZNC bouncer support to tackle connection timeouts. Also, if you have the means, it will happily stay active for hours in the background thanks to background manager on modified devices. However, it's not quite iOS 7 friendly just yet, and the promised update is taking months. Occasionally a new line will not appear until 'return' is pressed or the chat history is dragged up or touched. The channel list is not hideable, but I am told that this feature will be present in the new version. Looking forward to it soon!
