Changes from Version 14:

https://www.alpinesoft.co.uk/contact_us.aspx
▪ A couple of bug fixes.
15.0.0 2024/08/20
Changes from Version 13.1.6
▪ The maximum length of a manual repair has been increased from just under 10ms to 50ms. You need a fast machine with, ideally, 4 cores or more to repair wide clicks. This requires VinylStudio Premium, but you can trial that for 30 days before you have to purchase a license.
▪ The maximum length of a patch has been increased from 250ms to 1 second. Results vary, with longer patches. This requires VinylStudio Premium.
▪ There is a new type of Patch - 'multiclick' - which strings a number of click repairs together to replaced the damaged audio. This requires VinylStudio Premium.
▪ Patching is now multi-threaded (one thread per channel) and as a result there is, in most cases, a 2x speedup, provided that you have a CPU with at least 2 cores. This requires VinylStudio Premium.
▪ The click scanner is also now multi-threaded (one thread per channel) and as a result there is again a 2x speedup. This requires VinylStudio Premium.
▪ You can now scan for, and optionally repair, clips. This works best for minor clipping; if the clipping is severe you should re-record.
▪ We have (at last!) sorted out the confusion between Artist and Album Artist. VinylStudio uses the Album Artist and Title to uniquely identify the album. There is a new field called Performing Artist that maps to Artist in many audio players, which can be overridden per-track if desired. Artist Alias has been removed.
▪ You can now burn multiple CDs in a single operation (Michael Pekic). Requires VinylStudio Pro.
▪ You can now drag an existing click repair horizontally by holding down the Alt / Option key (RonH).
▪ Dragging various things now auto-scrolls the waveform display. This should reduce the need to scroll in and out and / or scroll the display yourself to get things where you want them.
▪ The comment fields in the Edit Album Details and Edit Track Details dialogs now accept line breaks. Also, the length limit has been removed. Please note that some players (notably iTunes) truncate this field when displaying it.
▪ Custom tags now accept line breaks.
▪ By popular request, we have added a 'lyrics' field to the Edit Track Details dialog.
▪ You can now open Discogs in your web browser from the Lookup Track Listing dialog by right-clicking on an album in the list. Your browser will then display the Discogs page for the release you clicked on (Gretschguy). Requires VinylStudio Pro.
▪ Changed the way 'Insert Manual Repair' (R) works; many thanks to Mike Dunt for the suggestion.
▪ An album can now have several status names, rather than just one. This should make managing your collection easier. Also, the number of custom status names has been increased from 5 to 16.
▪ Further improvements to the help file (the section on burning CDs needed some TLC).
▪ The rumble filter wasn't working very well. This has now been fixed.
▪ Fixed a bug exporting CSV files - the order of the fields to be exported was being ignored.
▪ 'Restore Previous Purchases' tended to hang. This is now fixed.
▪ Also a few tweaks and bug fixes discovered by us or reported by users (including improving the 'needle up' logic when recording), for which much thanks.

13.1.6 2023/10/05
Changes in V13.1.3:
▪ Fixed a few minor issues reported by users.
Changes in V13.1.0:
▪ Improved the responsiveness of the user interface when generating the waveform display.
▪ Improved the way VinylStudio handles recording singles. Please see the help file for details.
▪ Fixed excessive memory consumption when saving tracks with lots of threads. Also, VinylStudio now only opens files when necessary, which can dramatically reduce the total number open at once.
▪ Improved the accuracy of the 'time to go' indicator when (for example) saving tracks. Specifically, it is more stable and doesn't 'bounce around' so much.
▪ By request, made a number of popups (e.g. 'Scan for Clicks complete') optional. If you have other candidates, please let us know.
▪ VinylStudio can now read cue sheets with embedded double quotes (VinylStudio Pro only). There are also a couple of additional export options and we have fixed a couple of bugs.
▪ Scan for Track Breaks has been improved. You can now also 'fine tune' existing track breaks to fit the gaps in the music. Please note that the semi-manual scan feature has been removed.
▪ If you ask it to, VinylStudio now correctly preserves your track breaks when looking up track listings online.
▪ When integrating with iTunes / Music, VinylStudio now works rather better when you store your tracks in iCloud.
▪ VinylStudio can now import Sony / Sonic Foundry Wave 64 files (VinylStudio Pro only). It cannot write to such files, however.
▪ Tweaked the wizard shown on first launch to make it clearer how to store recordings on an external drive.
▪ VinylStudio now offers both quick erase (which is how it was before) and full erase when erasing optical disks.
▪ When mixing down to mono, you can elect to copy from only the left-hand or right-hand channel (as opposed to mixing the two).
▪ Some of the menus have been tidied up and reviewed for consistency.
▪ The maximum recording time and elapsed time display in the Record Dialog now respect the speed conversion setting (because, we feel, they should).
▪ Nicer window animations.
▪ Much improved facilities for importing audio files.
▪ You can now swap the left and right channels over if you record a file incorrectly (VinylStudio Pro only).
▪ Length limits in exported CUE sheets have been removed (VinylStudio Pro only).
▪ The 'Zoom Track' dialog didn't work properly and has been removed. We doubt it will be missed.
▪ We have done a bit of (long overdue!) work on the help file.
▪ There are a number of other improvements and bug fixes. For full details, please see the readme file after installing.

Changes in V12.5.0:
▪ VinylStudio now stops your computer from going to sleep while a recording is in progress.

▪ VinylStudio can now read a wider variety of AAC files.
▪ Fixed a rare crash saving tracks which require sample rate conversion (including DSD to PCM).
▪ VinylStudio now supports VoiceOver.

▪ Pressing the left and right arrow keys while holding down the Shift key now 'nudges' the cursor left and right in the waveform display. Use Ctrl + Shift for a bigger nudge.
▪ Fixed drag and drop from (e.g.) Safari to VinylStudio's Album Art window.
▪ Improved the behaviour of 'Apply Recording Equalisation Curve' in the Equalisation Curve window. Before, it wasn't working quite right. You can now also 'listen while you work' in this window.

▪ Normalisation has been improved. Specifically:
▪ The preamp sliders now have greater range and precision

▪ Fixed an occasional (and harmless) 'error 2' message when editing album details.
▪ Fixed an issue importing the SONGWRITER field in CUE sheets; this was not working correctly, although CUE sheets generated by VinylStudio were actually correct so you can just reimport them. Please note that CUE sheet support is available in VinylStudio Pro only.
▪ Fixed an issue importing multiple files where VinylStudio mangled the track names and times imported from Discogs. Please note that importing multiple files is available in VinylStudio Pro only.
▪ Fixed a problem where VinylStudio was only applying equalisation / FFT curves to the first track saved for each album. Bug introduced in V11.7.

▪ Compatible with macOS 10.12 Sierra
▪ VinylStudio can now embed ID3 tags in WAV files as well as the older INFO tag. ID3 tags are read by a wider variety of players (including VLC and Windows Media Player).
▪ VinylStudio now remembers upto 5 custom 'When saving tracks, name them as' strings in the Settings / Preferences dialog, allowing you to switch between them quickly and easily if you need to.
▪ If you recorded your album sides in the wrong sequence (typically side 2 and then side 1), you can correct this by dragging the recorded files around in the list in the Record or Split Tracks dialog.
▪ The size of the recording buffer is now configurable from 1 to 60 seconds (in the Recording Options dialog).
▪ Fix error 403 searching Music Brainz. You may still encounter error 503's at busy times, but if so just retry.
▪ Fix inability to handle some MP3 files containing Unicode ID3 tags
▪ Fix Discogs searches for artists containing a hyphen.
▪ Search the 'MP3 Downloads' index in the Amazon databases as well as the existing Music index. This contains more track listings and (usefully) puts in track break markers for you.

▪ VinylStudio can now handle upto 30 album sides per album (up from 20).
▪ You can now add additional albums to your collection while recording.

▪ The recording level indicators can now display either dB or percent (linear). The latter is more precise.
▪ When burning an audio CD, VinylStudio now allows you to burn a second, identical, CD more quickly.
▪ Dropdown lists now position themselves to the nearest matching entry when you start typing. Just press Enter to complete the entry.
