Create an online profile by completing the registration form. Set up your login details.

We’ll need to confirm your ID details before you send your first money transfer. As per local regulation, you are required to provide two types of ID.

Japanese residents, upload the front and back of your:

- Japanese passport or driving license
- My Number Card or Juminhyo with My Number (issued within the last 6 months)

Foreign residents, upload the front and back of your:

- Residence Card
- My Number Card or Juminhyo with My Number (issued within the last 6 months)

SET UP A MONEY TRANSFER

Western Union transacts in nearly 130 currencies. You can get a free, no obligation estimate for a money transfer to a selected country anytime.

Select the preferred option in each field to set up the transfer you intend to send:

1. Choose which country you want to send money to from Japan.

2. Input the amount of money you want to send. You will get an instant estimate of the exchange rate and transfer fee.

3. Select how you want the money to be received1: in a bank account, at a Western Union agent location for cash pickup, or in a mobile wallet2.

4. Complete a bank transfer to the Western Union account to pay for the sending amount and the transfer fee.

5. Make sure you include in the reference field your EB number and your name to match your Western Union profile.

6. Use the tracking number (MTCN) on your receipt to know when the money has been transferred.

SUPER CONVENIENT

First time using this app, I thought it would be a hassle because of some bad reviews but I try using it and fortunately, this is so convenient! I guess this app made some updates which really helpful specially for busy people.
In just a minute you can arrange the money you want to send, then pay it either transferring from your bank account or paying at convenience store, etc.
Then THATS IT! I guess the bank transfer is more easier and faster :)

Useless app

If you want to waste time and money, use there App...
To start with, I tried to register on there online app, since they charge a bit less than going to there remit store/shop. I understand that they need to do some verification FIRST before they can proceed with the initial transaction. HOWEVER, with all my legal ID/ MyNumber which was verified and all ( l knew they verified my new account since I received the PINCODE by mail). I tried to pay them TWICE via bank transfer. And BOTH was received and refunded, and for what SHITTY reason they can’t send the money to my money recipient. JUST A WASTE OF MY TIME. THEY DONT HAVE A GOOD SYSTEM.

APPLE, pull the license of this App.

Worst App online!!!

Apple and for that matter Android MUST remove this system if their integrity is to remain intact.
I spent the greater part of 1 hour trying to register ALL the required details and ID verifications in the hopes that my life will be made easier at the point of pickup. Well forget that lie.
When I turned up at the counter I was told that my money was on hold for TWENTYFOUR 24 Hours BECAUSE I used the app to sign up. How can that even be a thing? I was then told to call the customer centre here in Japan. I called. They then told me to call the sender and have them call the US WesternUnion. The time is now 1am in the states. The mother is at sleep. I had to wake up the lady. Have her call the US center for them to explain to her that because I used the IOS system to sign up and access my account- the funds will be on hold. They said there was a glitch in the system so I have to wait.
This WesternUnion app is suppose to work like online check in. You do it so the final process is made easier. This app however does the exact opposite of that. And at all points the agents are dismissive of your surprise and concern!!! What’s the point of having an app if all it does is make life that much harder for the customers? Just leave the system as it was before. Paper worked. It was efficient and I NEVER had to wake up my dear mother to call WesternUnion to talk to some agent. I didn’t even know there was a WesternUnion customer service. Ffs!!!!
This app is ridiculous!! And it just shows that WesternUnion is not ready for the future and really should just stick to its backward way of doing things. What ABSOLUTE CRAP!!
I encourage EVERYONE to disregard this service.
Westernunion needs to get its act together or leave it to people who know what they’re doing. Epic FAIL‼️‼️‼️
