This app requires a WHOOP Strap with an iPhone 5s or newer and iOS 11 or later.

WHOOP optimizes performance for elite athletes through a continuous understanding of Strain and Recovery. When paired with a WHOOP Strap, the WHOOP App provides physiological data, analysis, and actionable insights that help athletes tailor their training, improve their sleep, and maximize their performance.

For a coach or trainer, it provides the ability to see every member of a team in a list and their respective Strain Scores after a workout or game, their Recoveries in the morning (how prepared they are for strain/exercise), and their Sleep Performance last night. This helps prevent overtraining/undertraining, optimize lineups and rotations, improve training plans, and increase team accountability.

Strain Feedback:
The WHOOP Strap doesn’t measure steps - it measures strain. The WHOOP App downloads data from the WHOOP Strap and uploads it to WHOOP’s servers.* The app allows athletes to see the strain of their workouts, providing information on the strain their bodies accrue during the physical activities. The app also allows athletes to track running and cycling routes, offering a map of the completed route and data on distance and speed.

Sleep Performance vs Sleep Need:
WHOOP offers athletes a sleep score, which is based on the time an athlete sleeps each night and a personalized calculation of the hours of sleep the athlete requires. Both calculations are based on the data coming from the WHOOP Strap, coupled with WHOOP’s proprietary analytics algorithms. The app also displays further details on each sleep, including the time spent in each sleep stage, the time it takes to fall asleep, and the number of disturbances during the night.

Quantified Recovery:
WHOOP lets athletes know how prepared their bodies are for physical strain and exertion. The Recovery score offered by the app is calculated after each sleep and is based on physiological data coming from the WHOOP Strap.

Team Interface:
If you join WHOOP as a team, the WHOOP app allows you to see the Strain and Recovery scores of your teammates. This allows athletes to compare their daily Intensities and Recoveries against their fellow team members. For a coach or trainer, it provides the ability to see every member of a team in a list and their respective Strain Scores after a workout or game, their Recoveries in the morning (how prepared they are for strain/exercise), and their Sleep Performance last night. This helps prevent overtraining/undertraining, optimize lineups and rotations, improve training plans, and increase team accountability.

* Continued use of GPS and Bluetooth running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
