Moom

Easily move and resize windows

Resizing windows on your Mac is easy: Simply grab an edge and drag. But Moom goes a step further, letting you resize a window and place it exactly where you want—all with a couple clicks or key presses.

One way is to use Moom’s nifty resize palette: Hover your pointer over the green button in the upper left of any window; select a preset to make the window fill the entire screen or any half of it. It’s a fast way to, say, place two windows side by side.

Because Moom knows people work differently, it offers multiple ways to do pretty much everything. An alternative method for accomplishing the above is to enable Move & Zoom (Preferences > Mouse > Snap to Edges and Corner) and simply drag a window to an edge or corner of your screen.

Prefer more precise window layouts? Click the big rectangle in that resize palette. Now you can “draw” your favorite window layout. (Make sure to check the “Enable full screen grid…” setting in Preferences > Mouse > Zoom Button Controls.)

Keyboard jockeys will appreciate that all of Moom’s default window positions, as well as controls for freely moving and resizing windows, are available via keyboard shortcuts. And if you have specific sizes and positions you prefer (maybe you always want Safari to take up the left two-thirds of the screen), you can configure keyboard shortcuts for as many of those as you need.

Access your favorite positions and actions even faster with keyboard shortcuts.

Wish you could easily re-create specific window layouts you’ve stumbled upon? Save them as presets (using the Save Window Layout Snapshot option in Moom’s system-wide menu). The app offers many ways to trigger this layout: the Moom menu, a keyboard shortcut, or even any time you disconnect or connect an external display.

And if you’ve ever regretted resizing a window, you’ll appreciate Moom’s Undo. It works even if you resized the old-fashioned way, using the pointer.

Note: The first time you use Moom to resize a window, macOS will ask if you want to allow the app to control your Mac. This is normal. Once you give that permission, you shouldn’t be asked again.
