Read books together with your developing reader directly on your phone or tablet for free — anytime, anywhere.
With this app, you’ll be able to:
• Download free books to share together.
• Interact with favorite stories with fun recommended ideas, conversation-starters and questions that will build early reading skills and help you learn how to be an engaging storyteller.
• Use our unique tips with multiple readings to learn how sharing these books over and over again and connecting them to simple activities can build early reading skills and lead to success in school and beyond.
• Find fun, easy, and educational videos and activities you can do together using what you already have at home.
• Explore all content in English, Spanish, or bilingually.
• Track observations and vocabulary growth in our Learning Journal.
Make Way for Books, a nonprofit organization, has nearly three decades of experience helping families and educators build critical early literacy skills to prepare for success in school and in life. Our activities and content are based on science and designed to be engaging, culturally relevant, and developmentally appropriate.
What’s New
Version 3.0.15
Our biggest update yet, this new version of the app introduces a new feature we call, “Learning Levels,” which delivers three-times more recommended questions, conversation-starters, and fun activities than previously offered on the app and is accessible in bite-size amounts each time you revisit a story.
New accessibility options allow users to tailor their reading experience by giving the option to toggle between languages while actively reading without interrupting the immersive reading experience, change the book’s text size, and enable a new dyslexia font option, for those who need it.
The new introductory tutorial has been revised to show families how to make the most of the new features on the Make Way for Books App.
