What’s New

Version 14.1.1

Changes from Version 13.1.6

▪ The maximum length of a manual repair has been increased from just under 10ms to 50ms. You need a fast machine with, ideally, 4 cores or more to repair wide clicks. This requires VinylStudio Premium, but you can trial that for 30 days before you have to purchase a license.

▪ The maximum length of a patch has been increased from 250ms to 1 second. Results vary, with longer patches. This requires VinylStudio Premium.

▪ There is a new type of Patch - 'multiclick' - which strings a number of click repairs together to replaced the damaged audio. This requires VinylStudio Premium.

▪ Patching is now multi-threaded (one thread per channel) and as a result there is, in most cases, a 2x speedup, provided that you have a CPU with at least 2 cores. This requires VinylStudio Premium.

▪ The click scanner is also now multi-threaded (one thread per channel) and as a result there is again a 2x speedup. This requires VinylStudio Premium.

▪ You can now scan for, and optionally repair, clips. This works best for minor clipping; if the clipping is severe you should re-record.

▪ We have (at last!) sorted out the confusion between Artist and Album Artist. VinylStudio uses the Album Artist and Title to uniquely identify the album. There is a new field called Performing Artist that maps to Artist in many audio players, which can be overridden per-track if desired. Artist Alias has been removed.

▪ You can now burn multiple CDs in a single operation (Michael Pekic). Requires VinylStudio Pro.

▪ You can now drag an existing click repair horizontally by holding down the Alt / Option key (RonH).

▪ Dragging various things now auto-scrolls the waveform display. This should reduce the need to scroll in and out and / or scroll the display yourself to get things where you want them.

▪ The comment fields in the Edit Album Details and Edit Track Details dialogs now accept line breaks. Also, the length limit has been removed. Please note that some players (notably iTunes) truncate this field when displaying it.

▪ Custom tags now accept line breaks.

▪ By popular request, we have added a 'lyrics' field to the Edit Track Details dialog.

▪ You can now open Discogs in your web browser from the Lookup Track Listing dialog by right-clicking on an album in the list. Your browser will then display the Discogs page for the release you clicked on (Gretschguy). Requires VinylStudio Pro.

▪ Changed the way 'Insert Manual Repair' (R) works; many thanks to Mike Dunt for the suggestion.

▪ An album can now have several status names, rather than just one. This should make managing your collection easier. Also, the number of custom status names has been increased from 5 to 16.

▪ Further improvements to the help file (the section on burning CDs needed some TLC).

▪ The rumble filter wasn't working very well. This has now been fixed.

▪ Fixed a bug exporting CSV files - the order of the fields to be exported was being ignored.

▪ 'Restore Previous Purchases' tended to hang. This is now fixed.

▪ Also a few tweaks and bug fixes discovered by us or reported by users (including improving the 'needle up' logic when recording), for which much thanks.
