The Wire Resistance Calculator computes the electrical properties of a specific wire, including resistance and conductance. Resistance is the property of a wire that opposes the flow of electric current. Electrical conductance is the ability of an electric charge to flow through a particular path.
Materials such as copper and aluminium have low levels of resistivity, making them suitable for the production of electrical wires and cables. The resistivity of these materials is affected by temperature.
Formula:
R = ρL/A
Where:
ρ - Resistivity constant of the material, in Ω·m
L - Length of the wire, in meters
A - Cross-sectional area of the wire, in m²
R - Resistance, in ohms (Ω)
