Ever wondered what’s going on under the hood of your Mac – which processes are running in the background or what’s eating up CPU, memory or your network connection? iStat Menus’ configurable system-wide menus can show you all that at a glance and much more.

Here’s a look at iStat Menus’ menus – and the important info they provide.

Monitor your drive space. The Disks menu helps you keep an eye on disk activity and free space: helpful when you’re trying to save a huge movie project and don’t want to run out of storage.

Storage surprises are the worst surprises – keep an eye on your drive’s health and available space.

Supervise the workload. Using an app that needs to push your Mac’s processor to the limit or that requires lots of memory? The CPU and Memory menus show you, in real time, how hard your Mac is working – and which apps are hogging your RAM and CPU cycles.

Watch your battery. If you’re using a MacBook or MacBook Pro, the Battery/Power menu displays the usual important info – the current battery charge and how much use time you have left – but also which apps are consuming significant energy, so you can quit them if you need to squeeze every last minute out of the battery.

Eye the time. With the Time menu, a single click displays the local time for any cities you choose; hover over one to see details such as sunrise, sunset and twilight, plus two photographer favs: golden hour and blue hour.

Find the ideal time for an international meeting, or an evening photo while travelling internationally.

Check the network. Have a patchy or slow internet connection? The Network menu reveals the level of incoming and outgoing data, so you can assess if the culprit is in fact your connection or just that you’re sending or receiving lots of data.

Get notified. Whether or not you enable a particular menu, use the app’s Notifications to be alerted about important events. For example, receive a warning if one of your hard drives is getting full or when your MacBook’s battery dips below a certain percentage.

Make it your own. Whichever menus you choose to use, iStat Menus gives you myriad ways to display them. Go minimal with just the essential info, or show everything you ever wanted to know, complete with bar graphs and pie charts. Set a shortcut for each menu so you can check your Mac’s health without lifting a finger from the keyboard.
