A party inside your Mac
How the Houseparty app is transforming video chat.
Group Video Chat
The genius of the social networking app Houseparty lies in how quickly a one-to-one video chat can turn into a roomful of people chatting and laughing together. Check out these three tips to join the party.
1) Party around the clock
Unlike on iPhone and iPad, Houseparty on Mac works best if you keep it running. When you’re online, a tiny cup in your menu bar turns red and your camera switches on. You’ll never forget you’re live though – by default, the video feed of your face displays above other apps you’re using.
2) Be your own bouncer
You decide who gets into this party. To create an exclusive room, tap the padlock icon below your video. This allows your friends to gain access to the room, but locks out uninvited guests.
3) Look your best
If you want to be online but don’t want someone to surprise you with an impromptu video call, go to your friends list, click the drop-down arrow above your name and change your status to Around.
While you’re Around, friends can send you a greeting, but they can’t see your feed. That’ll give you time to fix your hair before joining a chat with your crush. 😉
