SongPop has basically taken over the world. More than 100 million players downloaded the original game, rocking out to a catalogue of more than 150,000 songs. Then came SongPop 2.
Don’t worry. The aim of the most recent iteration of the game is still the same: guess the track that’s playing before your opponent gets it. You have to be fast. But, you can’t sacrifice accuracy for speed.
Start by choosing categories that suit your musical expertise. Perhaps you're an expert on the songs of Sam Smith, or are you a ‘70s glam rock aficionado? The more you play, the more music becomes available to you – and there are almost 2,000 possible playlists to battle it out over. You can keep challenging the same opponents, or find new ones.
Perhaps you’ll even find a kindred spirit who shares your music taste, as the app matches you musically to your opponents. According to the developers, there have even been marriages between people who met in the game.
No doubt while you’re playing you’ll be reminded of a few musical gems from your past. The good news is that SongPop 2 integrates with Apple Music, so if you hear the song you like, just tap on it to play the whole track or add it to a playlist in Apple Music. You’ll have your New Year’s Eve playlist sorted in an instant. Rock on.
