Affinity Publisher makes page layout accessible.
Pro Desktop Publishing
Affinity Publisher brings a fresh simplicity to desktop publishing. Whether you’re creating a company newsletter, a flyer for your community soup kitchen or a 1,000-page bound book of your epic poem, this versatile page-layout app makes it easy to integrate headlines, text, illustrations and photos.
Publisher has everything you expect from a professional desktop-publishing program, including multiple masters (for items that appear on every page), live tables of contents, headers and footers, and Pantone support for accurate offset printing. But the app makes using those features easily accessible, and it runs lightning-fast, so you instantly see changes you make.
For example, to experiment with different typefaces, just select text and click the font pop-up menu; as you hover the pointer over the different fonts, your text is instantly previewed – no need to select one to see how it looks.
Of course, you can also make text wrap, follow a line or fill a shape. You can even apply a gradient of colour across a range of type with a single drag of the pointer, and you have access to swash capitals and other features of modern typefaces. Publisher puts all these typographic controls in convenient palettes that make it easy to create and modify styles.
Publisher also supports layers – a rare feature at this price. And it does so in a familiar way: much like in a vector-illustration or image-editing program, every object on a page can be selectively hidden, modified, grouped, arranged and mixed with other objects.
If tables are routinely part of your layouts, you’ll love Publisher’s tools for inserting, formatting and managing them. No need to deal with any inconsistencies introduced when importing tables from another app.
Publisher also includes tools that let you draw vector curves and apply image-like masking effects and blending. And if you have Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo installed, Publisher provides a seamless workflow among them and adds even more vector and image tools.
Export to a slew of common formats, including web-optimised PDF, the PDF/X variant required for four-colour printing; several image formats can work as web backgrounds or downloadable images.
