First released in 1992, classic platformer-adventure game Flashback has long been revered for its elegant level design, sophisticated storyline and impressive visuals. And this newly-remastered version lives up to that lineage.
The year is 2142. You’re Conrad B. Hart, an agent for the Galaxia Bureau of Investigation who awakens in a strange, tropical jungle with an acute case of amnesia.
Luckily, a holographic message you recorded before losing your memory sets you on a path to rediscover your identity – and, naturally, save the world.
Like the original, Flashback Mobile is a moody and deliberate experience. Scale platforms and try to open locked doors; talk to locals in search of clues. Navigating the game’s levels takes skill and precision – and lots of precarious leaps.
Unlike the original, the mobile version is packed with bells and whistles: a tutorial (finally!), enhanced graphics and a nifty rewind feature that allows you to correct mistakes.
Prefer to live in the past? Play the classic version and embrace the early ’90s; Flashback is just as awesome – and tricky – as you remember.
