“We made this recipe with busy parents in mind,” Jody Tixier, Tasty’s Supervising Producer and creator of this adorable recipe tells us. And this is how you can bring this adorable creation to life:

1. Prep your ingredients

"Using pancake mix is a great shortcut,” Tixier explains. “You just have to add eggs and milk and in a few quick minutes, your batter is ready to go. You just want to be careful not to overmix your batter or your pancakes can get tough.”

2. Get hot not bothered

“Have your nonstick pan on medium heat to get nice, golden pancakes. It also helps to let the pan heat up for a bit before adding any batter so you can be sure it’s evenly heated. To get a perfect golden pancake, skip adding any butter, oil, or cooking spray to the pan, they can actually give the pancakes a splotchy look and you shouldn’t need them to prevent sticking if your pan and your timing is right.”

3. Measure twice, pour once

“For large pancakes, pour 235ml of batter onto the pan. For small pancakes, pour 60ml of batter, and for medium pancakes, pour 80ml of batter.”

4. Pop the bubble

“Make sure you don’t flip your pancakes too early. You want to wait until the batter starts to bubble up and those bubbles pop. The pancake will also lose its shine and begin to look more matte. Flip and cook on the other side for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom is lightly browned. Now to build."

"For the lion pancake, you’ll need 1 large and 1 small pancake, sliced strawberries for the mane and nose, blueberries for the eyes, and chocolate chips for the mouth"
For the monkey pancake, you’ll need 1 large, 2 small, and 1 medium pancake, blueberries for the eyes and nose, and chocolate chips for the mouth.”
For the owl pancake, you’ll need 1 large pancake, sliced bananas for the eyes and feathers, blueberries for the eyes, and sliced strawberries for the beak and wings.”
For the pig pancake, you’ll need 1 large and 1 small pancake, chocolate chips for the snout, blueberries for the eyes, and sliced strawberries for the ears.”

Whichever animal you pick – or if you try to create your own – all that's left to do is pour the syrup, squirt the cream, and enjoy.
