VMOD

Solve visual quantix equations

As a kid, you were probably told not to go pressing random buttons, because you never knew what they might do. VMOD has no such restrictive rules. Poke and prod away – it’s the only way you’ll solve these elegant puzzles.

Each level in VMOD presents you with a grid of switch-like buttons. Your goal is simple: activate them all, making every point on the matrix glow a bright white. The catch? The buttons are interconnected – tap one and it has some sort of effect on the others.

The different shapes on these switches signify unique effects. Experiment to figure out what they do.

Pressing a button marked with a solid circle will switch it on while toggling its neighbours. Tapping an X will turn that button on while switching off any adjacent nodes. Once you’ve got five or six different types of buttons in the mix, you’ll need keen analytical skills to suss out the proper activation order.

Sometimes you’ll get stuck – then the pattern will suddenly reveal itself in a flash of inspiration. Press the diamond, tap each triangle twice, hit the circles on the outer edges, then finish with the X in the centre. Eureka!

Flipping a switch will change its neighbouring nodes. Getting them all synced up is trickier than it looks.

Maths whizzes might recognise these thoughtfully crafted puzzles as a form of vertex cover problems. Philosophical types might see VMOD as a metaphor for life, how everything we do affects the things around us – positively or negatively.

But you don’t need to delve that deep to get a satisfying cerebral workout with VMOD’s clever conundrums. Best of all, no one will ever scold you for pressing all these buttons.
