NEW & IMPROVED FOR SPRING 2024! FishingBC is the official app for tidal (saltwater) fishing in British Columbia, created by the Sport Fishing Institute of BC with support from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and the Pacific Salmon Foundation.
Features:
• Now the FishingBC app replaces the need to carry a paper licence! After linking it with your BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence, the FishingBC app allows you to permanently record, store, and display mandatory catch information including for Chinook salmon, halibut, and lingcod, as well as provide proof of your current, valid licence.
• Up-to-date, easy-to-view official regulations including closures and contamination areas.
• Updated catch log and species ID to identify and record your catch and access your historical catch data.
• Certified Tidal Angling Guides (CTAG) can now easily complete DFO catch log requirements.
• UBC Enhanced Catch Log provides additional Chinook and Coho catch log information to University of British Columbia researchers.
• Current, location-based weather forecasts including marine synopsis.

Version 2.5.0
REPLACES THE NEED TO CARRY A PAPER LICENCE: With the newest update to the FishingBC app, and in cooperation with Canada’s Department of Fisheries & Oceans, your smartphone can now replace your paper licence while fishing. After linking it with your BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence, the FishingBC app allows you to permanently record, store, and display mandatory catch information including for Chinook salmon, halibut, and lingcod, as well as provide proof of your current, valid licence.
APP ACCOUNT: You may now use the FishingBC App without creating or logging into an account. (You will still need to be logged in to a FishingBC App account to link your National Recreational Licensing System (NRLS) account, retrieve your official BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence, and use the app's Catch Log feature.)
CATCH LOG: Numerous improvements to the Catch Log feature.
REGULATIONS: An all new, simplified and streamlined look for Regulations, making them easier to read and understand at a glance.
UPDATED AI: The Enhanced Species ID feature uses all new AI and is much better at identifying Pacific salmon and other finish.
ENHANCED MAPS: The Interactive Map feature has been updated with new layers, including Rockfish Conservation Areas, Southern Resident Killer Whale Closures, and many more.
NEW TOOLS: An on-screen ruler, units converter, and fish weight estimator are now available.
MISCELLANEOUS: Numerous visual tweaks and other improvements to performance and stability.
