Live the Star Wars™ lore

Experience the exciting backstory in these two seminal games.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, came out over a decade ago, but they’re still widely hailed as two of the best Star Wars videogames of all time.

Set 4,000 years before the epic clashes between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, the games let you live out your own Jedi adventure, meeting (and in some cases defeating) dozens of unforgettable characters along the way. The sharp writing and deep lore are so well done, you might feel like you’re starring in your very own sprawling film.

Customise your own lightsaber wielding hero in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II.

Developed by legendary RPG maker BioWare, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic casts you as a mysterious character suffering from amnesia. You find yourself caught up in the beginning of a galactic war between the sinister Sith and the peace-loving Republic. Choose your gender, pick a character class and assign your skill points. Then the incredible tale begins.

The action spans across several explorable spaceships and planets, most of which, like Taris and Dantooine, are never seen in the films. You seek to stop Darth Malak’s plans for galactic domination. With blaster battles and lightsaber duels, plans gone sideways and jaw-dropping plot twists, it’s everything you’d expect from a Star Wars saga.

The second game is set five years after the first and comes from Obsidian Entertainment, a developer whose RPGs are renowned for their sharp character development and storytelling. You now play an exiled Jedi who must reconnect with the Force and bring an end to a sweeping Sith plot. Whether you do so by defeating the Dark Lord of the Sith or usurping ultimate power is up to you.

Prepare for battle as an exiled Jedi warrior.

Combat in the games takes place in real time, but you can pause at any moment to queue up attacks or issue orders to your companions. Interspersed with these thrilling action sequences are exciting quests, plus opportunities to find valuable loot and weapons and team up with fascinating personalities. The assassin droid HK-47, who appears in both games, might be the most memorable Star Wars bot this side of R2-D2.

Though their stories take place even longer ago in that galaxy far, far away, everything you know and love about Star Wars is woven into these timeless, must-play classics.
