斗兽棋中的吃法顺序可以分为两种，即普通吃法和特殊吃法。普通吃法为根据棋子大小顺序吃：象>狮>虎>豹>狼>狗>猫>鼠。但象不可以吃鼠。特殊吃法为鼠可以吃象，同类可互吃，本方的任意兽类都可以吃落入陷阱内的兽。
