Widgets get an upgrade

Notifications and widgets come together in Big Sur.

macOS Big Sur brings a new look to Notification Centre, combining alerts and widgets in a single view for key information at a glance.

To see all your notifications, organised by app, click the date or time in the menu bar – or swipe left from the right edge of your trackpad with two fingers. Interactive notifications let you reply to an email or get more info about event invitations.

Scroll down for widgets that display the current weather, your upcoming calendar events and reminders, new podcast episodes, a Screen Time summary and more.

Third-party apps can add widgets to Notification Centre too, providing quick access to essential features and details.

All your notifications and widgets, in one convenient view.

To add a widget, download its app, then open Notification Centre and click the Edit Widgets button at the bottom.

Find the widget you want to add, choose a size and drag it into your Notification Centre list. To rearrange your widgets, just drag them where you want.
