Gingerbread Advent AR 4+

Using the iconic gingerbread house, we have created six Augmented Reality games. Each game is linked to an activity which relates to a symbol of the nativity story which is listed below.

Game 1 - play the first eight notes of Hark The Herald Angels Sing. This unlocks a short animated video about Angel Gabriel.

Game 2 - locate six gifts that are randomly placed around the gingerbread house in a set time. This unlocks a short animated video about Mary.

Game 3 - find 9 pieces of wood to build a manger within a set time. This unlocks a short animated video about Joseph.

Game 4 - feed each sheep a bale of hay within a set time using an on screen joy stick controller. This unlocks a short animated video about the shepherds.

Game 5 - follow the star and when you located it tap on it. How many times can you find it within a set time? This unlocks a short animated video about the wise men.

Bonus Activity - watch the short animated video about Jesus with the spoken word taken from Isaiah 9: 6 - 7. This unlocks a bonus activity where you get to throw snowballs at a gingerbread person in a set time.

Once you have explored all of the above games and videos, you can go back and watch the full animation by clicking on the button in the main menu.

To access the image that activates the Augmented Reality content on the app, please click on the button below. Download on to a tablet or print. You then need to scan the image using a compatible device that uses Augmented Reality.

Steps to help you use the Gingerbread Advent AR Resource

Download our app by searching Gingerbread Advent AR

Open up the Gingerbread Advent AR app
It will ask you to allow the app to use your camera – click to allow.
Place your phone over the AR card that has a picture of a gingerbread house scene with a path, marshmallows and trees.
Select cookie one and follow the on screen instructions for the game.
Once the game is finished, the video animation will play. You will return to the main menu that will allow you to select cookie two.
You must complete each game and video animation in order to reach the bonus activity.

If the tracking is lost, put the phone on the table and wait for the text ‘ tracking image lost’ and then place the phone back over the image and wait up to 5 seconds.
