Regret the upgrade from iF4

Many years ago I switched to iFinance just because iOs app was much better than anything else on the market. And it worked flawlessly. Until the latest and greatest iFinance 5 came out. Appears to be some kind of beta thrown onto the market. First, any jump to the new field in new transaction pane would hide the keyboard (talking about the app on an iPad). That has been finally fixed in some update. What remains however, there is no way to add another split transaction in a split transaction pane. You have to close the split transaction pane, pull the transactions list down - as now the main transaction has been hidden out of the screen, swipe the main transaction left, and then click New split transaction. So I stopped using iOs app and was entering transactions on my Mac OS app. With the latest update (as of November 25, 2022) however synchronisation via local network got broken. Ok, let’s switch to iCloud synchronisation. Now both apps say the database is synched and up to date, yet the latest transactions do not show up on iOS app. The worst thing is that you cannot go back to iFinance 4, as your database has now been converted to iF5 format, which iF4 does not understand. Cannot believe that Synium has thrown such a mess on their customers.

Regret the upgrade from iF4

The version 5 is a step back from version 4, in my opinion. User interface is essentially the same, just somewhat refreshed. Which is actually good. What’s bad however, is the synchronisation problems. With the latest update (as of Nov. 25, 2022) synchronisation via local network got broken. The app does not see the iOs app on the network, despite the network discovery turned on, and iOs app seeing the Mac OS app on the network. Synchronisation via iCloud appears to work. Kind of. The last transactions entered on Mac OS app do not appear on iOs app immediately. They don’t appear even an hour later. God knows what the „Improved iCloud sync“ in the „New in iFinance 5“ description means. To me, it got broken, as in iFinance 4 I could use sync. via local network, which worked flawlessly. I totally regret downgrade to 5 from version 4, but there seems to be no way to go back. I downloaded iFinance 4 from the App Store, but it is unable to open or import the current database, as it has been converted to iF5 format. It’s a nightmare. I would not recommend this app.
iFinance 5 for iOS is yet another story of regret, even worse than iF5 for Mac. See my review on that one.
