Description
The Sliding Scale app is designed for doctors and nurses who are taking care of patients with diabetes. It allows those healthcare professionals to easily create a sliding scale insulin based on a patients Insulin Sensitivity Factor (ISF), also known as the Correction Factor (CF).
The Insulin Sensitivity Factor is the amount by which a patients blood glucose lowers when given one unit of insulin. The app only works if you know the Insulin Sensitivity Factor of your patient. The app does not make recommendations about insulin doses. Instead, it uses the Insulin Sensitivity Factor and all the parameters you entered and converts them into a table that you can use as a sliding scale.
Healthcare professionals often estimate a patients Insulin Sensitivity Factor based on the patients total daily dose and type of insulin used. You need to know how to do this to be able to use the app.
