My Brother Rabbit

Imagination will find a way

VIEW

This marvellous blend of hidden-object game and point-and-click adventure is packed with peculiar charm. Yet its eccentricities never detract from the touching tale at its core.

As a young girl is taken ill, she and her older brother find comfort in a fantastical world where her toy rabbit is the hero. The bunny’s first goal is to come to the aid of his friend, a sickly plant, but even getting out of his warren is an elaborate process that requires a keen eye for detail.

The game’s beautiful, hand-painted environments hide dozens of secrets, which you’ll only discover by tapping on anything that looks vaguely suspicious.

The touching relationship between two siblings is the heart of this game.

Sometimes prodding and poking will produce a fun incidental response, like a lazy bug that can be lifted up and knocked onto its back. But more often you’ll find an item that will, at some point, factor into the game’s intricate puzzles.

At one stage, for example, you’ll find a hammer, which is used to chip away at a wall. This reveals a caterpillar, which munches away at a leaf to reveal a door in a snail-shaped house.

Scan each scene carefully; there are a ton of lovely details in here.

But to get in there, you’ll need the cap off an old projector – and to get that running, you’ll need to locate several firefly-like creatures with bulbs in their backside. (And just wait for the surreal flourish that follows once you’ve found them all.)

Elsewhere, you’ll use ice lollies to cool a trio of thermometers that are blocking your route to another area, and assemble an elaborate musical contraption that turns rainbows into a kind of colourful weedkiller.

And throughout, this game never forgets that, deep down, this is a moving story about using imagination as an escape. Give My Brother Rabbit a chance and this touching and uplifting adventure will bring magic and wonder into your world.
