Ice cream can make for some glorious summer photos. But capturing those seductive scoops before they wind up puddled on the pavement requires forethought and quick action. Here’s a beat-the-drip game plan.

Scout your location

Before you pay for your pistachio or buy your butter pecan, look for a contrasting backdrop.

If you’re lapping up flavours with bright colours, find a clean white wall. If vanilla or chocolate chip is more your speed, seek a simple colourful background to help the scoops shine.

If your scoops are bold, your background can be neutral – and vice versa.

Focus first

To ensure your picture-perfect scoop is the focal point of your photo, hold it at arm’s length and turn the cone (not the camera) to find that perfect angle.

Then tap the cone on your screen until a sun icon appears, and swipe up or down to brighten or darken the image so the colours really pop. Now snap away!

Doctor your shot

To make ice cream look as good as it tastes, sometimes you need a little post-production help.

Although there are many photo filters to choose from, the ones available in A Color Story – which skew bright and vibrant rather than dark and moody – are perfectly suited for a summertime treat.

A Color Story has the perfect photo filter to complement your cone.

There’s also a way to give your ice cream a little sparkle – with or without sprinkles. Use kirakira+ to add just a bit of twinkle or go all out with outrageous glitters.

As with hot fudge, you want to add kirakira+’s glitter effect in moderation. Don’t overdo it!

Wipe away drips

While melting ice cream is inevitable during the high heat of summer, TouchRetouch’s Object Removal feature easily eliminates unwanted drips. Use the brush or lasso to select the offending part, tap Go and consider your drips dropped.
