There’s never been a better time to get brawling – here’s why.

Brawl Stars is a constantly evolving thing, with new characters, game modes and features being added and refined every few weeks.

So if you’ve not enjoyed an online, all-action shootout for a few weeks or months, here’s all the new stuff you’ll find when you fire up the game again.

Exciting objectives – and big rewards
The biggest news in the world of Brawl Stars is the addition of Brawl Pass seasons. It’s a new way to get rewards for using more characters and going deeper into the different game modes.

Here’s where you’ll see your progress through the current season – and the rewards it brings.

Tap the Brawl Pass icon in the bottom left of the main hub screen and you’ll see the Rewards screen. This shows your current Token tally, which feeds into which Tier ranking you’re at. As you move through the Tiers, you’ll unlock more and more Brawl Boxes, Coins, Gems and Power Points.

“Sounds great, but how do you win Tokens to move through the Tiers?” we somehow hear you ask. Well, tap the Quests tab at the top of the Brawl Pass menu and you’ll see. Over the course of each 10-week-long season, you’re given a multitude of targets to hit in exchange for Tokens. So for example you might get 500 Tokens for winning 10 games playing as Bull, or 250 Tokens for winning six games in Brawl Ball. There are also daily quests to tackle, too.

And if you really want to maximise your season rewards, you can buy a Brawl Pass to layer in extra goodies as you move up through the Tiers.

New power-ups
Gadgets are extra combat tricks you can equip to characters with a Power level of seven or above. You can find them in Brawl Boxes, and they can only be used a limited number of times per Brawl.

So, for example, Shelly now has a Fast Forward gadget, which gives her three “dash” moves per match. Or there’s Nita’s Bear Paws gadget, which commands her bear companion to slam the ground and stun any nearby brawlers up to twice per match. Neat!

You can’t pin me down
A final extra flourish is the addition of Pins. These work a lot like emotes do in lots of other online games – tap the little opaque speech bubble on screen during a match and you can express your happiness, sadness, fury and everything in between.

Each character also has a raft of bespoke Special pins – the default is a little emoji of themselves, but you can also find other custom Pins inside Pin Packs, which can be bought from the in-game shop every weekend. Marvellous!
