Giving your Camera Roll the glitch treatment is simple thanks to the app’s neat library of filters and effects: you can easily import from your device and start editing, or add effects directly to your photos and videos as you shoot.
Tap the star icon in the bottom menu bar, and you’ll be able to peruse the app’s cool preset glitch effects. Several of these are free to use, like Old TV (with its malfunctioning wavy look), and with a pro subscription you’ll have access to even more (like Kaleidoscope or 8-bit effects).
It’s entertaining in itself to play around with the different effects. For those familiar with old VHS tapes and TV from the pre-digital era, the app’s Bad VHS and Lo-fi VHS are a nostalgic nod to retro home videos; while Distortion gives everything a choppy-security-camera-footage feel.
All of these preset effects can be tweaked under the magic wand icon, where you can turn on or off adjustments such as Analog Noise, and everything can be enhanced or softened depending on your preference. Tap the three rings icon and you’ll be able to add another dynamic layer to your glitchy content, with filters such as Cyberpunk or Dystopia.
And if you want to customise even further, adjust elements like the brightness and blur levels under the final tab on the menu bar. You’ll step away with a unique and eye-catching image or video that will add a new dimension to your portfolio.
