Why a goat would ever want to walk on stilts is beyond us, but we’re glad Walk Master’s caprine crusader decided to try. Because this physics-powered platformer is a riot: entertaining, challenging and very funny indeed.
To totter along on these towering planks, you need to slide your finger along the bottom of the screen from left to right to take a step. Walk Master factors the speed and distance of your slide into movement, giving you an amazing degree of fine control.
And you’ll need it. These are treacherous trails: with tilting platforms, snapping fish, angry hornets, lava geysers and good old-fashioned spike pits to contend with, staying upright is no mean feat.
Just when you think you’ve mastered a particular feature or hazard, another will come along to (quite literally) trip you up, whether it’s cheeky monkeys throwing coconuts at you, swinging logs over pits of carnivorous plants, or pressure plates you’ll need to step on to activate stone platforms.
You’ll laugh when you get your stilts in a muddle, or bonk your head on a platform. You’ll hold your breath as you scramble to salvage a bad landing with a hasty readjustment. And you’ll puff out your cheeks with relief when you reach a mid-trail checkpoint after a particularly tricky task. There are over 20 characters to unlock, not to mention a range of stilt designs – from candy canes to giraffes. But it’s the thrill of Walk Mastery that’ll keep you coming back: when you complete a tough stage without a single fall, you really will feel like the GOAT.
