Date Today 4+

Poorly designed and deceiving garbage

The only two reasons I decided to give this app a try was the fact that it had a 4x2 widget with clock and date right next to it and because in the description of the app it said that clicking on the calendar opens up your personal calendar of choice (which I also supposed clicking on the time did the same and it opened up the Clock app) but that is a lie, it just opens up this app’s settings wherever you tap on the widget. Also, in the 4x2 view, the clock font size is too small compared to the date next to it and it looks hideous. The battery and AM/FM symbols on top make the time and date go way off vertical center of the widget and it’s an eyesore.

I tried to go for a refund as I was not satisfied with this thing but my request was denied by the App Store. So the dev can either take UI design more seriously in upcoming updates and try to stick to either what he promised in the description or watch out what he promises in it or you people should consider going elsewhere.

Do you still experience this issue with the latest Date Today widget version?
In the Date Today version 1.0.11 it fixed the alignment of the AM/PM text label. And it provides you more options to customize the widget. For example, you can choose now the home screen wallpaper as a widget background. So it will look like a transparent widget. And you can set the wallpaper to your own gradient background.
Furthermore, you can enable/disable the shortcut that will open instantly your Calendar or Notes app. That can be found on the Settings page of the Date Today app. Just below the color options.

UPDATE 3 October 2020:
I am happy to announce that the tap action for each block has been fixed in the Date Today version 1.0.7. So when you tap on the small widget size, it will open the Calendar app. And the tap on the greeting/custom text will open the Notes application.

I always here to help and improve this unique and useful widget. And continue to build up this app with feedback from my users. Just like many of my other applications such as 'Turn Off the Lights', 'Finance Toolbar', 'CPU Check', etc. It is all build up with feedback.
