Launch Speed 2.0 allows you to convert the big numbers used in space exploration into something more familiar. 6,000 meters per second sounds fast but just how fast is it?
Really fast. 21,600 km/hr fast. 76.8% of the speed needed to achieve a stable low Earth orbit fast.
The interface for Launch Speed is pretty intuitive. In the top section, you specify the input speed value and its type of speed. At the bottom, you select a speed type to convert the input speed to.
Version 2.0 of Launch Speed has been completely redesigned and sports a subtle new neumorphic design. And, with this release new astronomical speed types have been added including:
- Earth's axial rotation speed
- The speed Earth rotates around the sun
- The speed our solar system rotates around the core of our Milky Way galaxy.
- And, of course, the speed of light.
