Keep track of the Islamic (Hijri) Calendar alongside the Gregorian calendar
The Islamic or Hijri calendar called at-taqwīm al-hijrī ( التقويم الهجري ) in Arabic is a lunar calendar which Muslims use consisting of 12 months in a year of 354 or 355 days. It is also used by Muslims to keep track of events and Islamic holidays.
The Calendar was established by companions of the Prophet of Allah, Muhammad PBUH, and its name and starting point derived from the migration of the Prophet PBUH from Makkah to Medina which is called The Hijra, hence the calendar is called the Hijri calendar.
