There are plenty of dot-connecting puzzle games right here in the App Store. While Dots and Co is also in that category, there is something that mesmerised us to keep playing this little gem.
Gameplay is simple: draw a line across dots of the same colour, both vertically and horizontally, to make them disappear. If you can draw these dots in square form, all of them will be gone. Some of them are covered with ice – so you have to draw a line across them more than once. In addition, each level has a limited number of moves, so it's trickier than you think.
As you reach increasingly higher levels (up to 550 as of now), you will unlock more exotic locations as well: forest, coast, mountain creek, desert and many more! True to its name, Dots and Co also provides companions to help you beat those challenging levels. You can count on a penguin, a reindeer or a bearded captain at any time. But these folks won't help you for free. You need to spend token and energy – you can collect those resources after finishing each level or, well, buy them.
As we played the game, we also realized a remarkable feeling: no matter how hard the level gets, there is little to no sense of frustration. Thanks to its pastel color scheme and soothing background music, this is the kind of game that brings us meditative joy, a signature quality of developer PlayDots.
