With its friendly approach and awesome updates, Duolingo’s long been one of our favorite apps for learning another language. Its secret: making the process genuinely fun. Engaging mini-games test your reading, writing, and speaking skills, and joining a club (where you can encourage and compete with others) adds a great social element. Bonus: all those languages and games are available for free!
Duolingo is good
Duolingo is an amazing app! You can learn so many languages and the way duolingo makes you lessons is fun! The only issue i have with this is there is so many more languages that people want to learn but duolingo hasnt added them. Maybe they are planning to do more but if you arent pleae do beacause i am trying to learn malthese in free apps but the ones who do have malthese are with money and the ones who are free dont have malthese so please add malthese and way more other languages people want to learn to make duolingo a more usefull app. Overall i give this 5 stars but you can do better
Duolingo review
Sufficient time is given to learn a new item, although the learner often ends jumping into new lessons like jumping in cold water. The app does not differentiate between silly spelling mistakes (e.g. pressing another button nearby by error) to a ‘real’ mistake (when the learner has no clue), and so both appear as items that need additional drilling when reviewing. Different words that mean the same thing in English are not accompanied by an explanation, so it may be confusing to the learner. Grammatical explanations (e.g. eclipses and declensions etc) also lack background explanation. Some of the sentences do not make any sens (e.g. the women are in the fridge) and errors were noted (e.g. skirts and dresses). What was really confusing at first, is having one of the girl animations say “I am a man” - the animations do not match the sentence. The idea of spaced learning is very helpful.
