“No More Masterpieces” Antonin Artaud
It can be difficult. I have known many people who have given up on the task. This is not for the faint of mind or mentally squeamish. Warning: You may abandon all hope after downloading this puzzle. Joking aside, the sliding puzzle is made up of famous paintings. The aim of the puzzle is to put the painting back together again in the most optimum way. The puzzle has 8 sliding panels in a 3 X 3 square. So one square is free thus allowing the movement of the nearby squares. With each planned move the painting is slowly moved into place. A computer can plan 24 moves ahead. The player is challenged to do the same. There are many different levels to the game from the hardest 23-24 move puzzle to the easiest level of the 9-11 move puzzle. As you might expect the game program always has a next correct move ready. A correct move is defined as one that moves the puzzle closer to completion always resulting in one less move to complete the masterpiece. And one can always know exactly how many moves it would take to complete the masterpiece. This is displayed at the bottom of the puzzle. There are different modes to the game. There is an AUTO mode which will solve the puzzle by continuously moving the puzzle pieces into place. Also there are a few RANDOM modes that just move the puzzle randomly without purpose. Then there is TOUCH mode which allows the player to move the pieces and solve the puzzle. You can switch between modes freely. When one downloads the game and goes to the options page there are 2 pages one should read before playing the game. One is the explanations page which gives the meaning to the buttons one see’s when playing the game. The other is the background page which gives you some of the mathematical logic that can be used to help understand the puzzle.
