Description

Foodcapture is an app for registering what you eat when seriously ill. It is designed to be used by patients in hospitals and/or by health workers, and integrates to hospital kitchens. By tracking nutrition with high accuracy, the aim is to significantly reduce undernutrition which affects about 20%-40% of patients depending on condition and severity/stage. Research has shown that interventions such as tracking, follow up and advice has the potential to reduce mortality by 30% (Effort study, Switzerland).

Foodcapture was originally developed by University of Oslo under the name of MinMat. The research and technology has been liscenced by Foodcapture AS for commercialization. A very similar app will also be released to AppStore, but this lacks some features and is targeted toward surveys.

The app is published to App Store so that a customer can download the app, include it in their MDM solution for deployment to staff devices. In the future, the app can also be used by patients who would like to continue to track their nutrition when going home from hospital.
