Description

Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag.

It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and keeps videos playing in the background.

Note: The "can read information from webpages" text in the permission section is just unfortunate wording. Vinegar needs access to the web page to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!

(By the way, check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's basically a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites other than YouTube.)

It is so unreliable!

i love this app and i believe that the concept of vinegar is amazing. Nonetheless, there's a lot of bugs, firstly, that quality switch toolbar keeps on appearing each time, even though i exceptionally switched it off. secondly, the video player sometimes doesnt even appear, its just the video without any pause button or slider. Lastly, whenever i click on a video, it starts playing without any sound and then the video restart after 3 seconds with sound. i hate how unreliable it is. Also, i dont understand why is there 2 vinegar icons in my safari toolbar, whenever i remove one of them, the video player disappears... For the time being, i will stop using it, due to the fact that theres so many bugs. if i continue using it, im basically prioritising aesthetic instead of functionality. Please Please Please Fix these issues.. I love this app!
